Dumfries Museum tells the story of Dumfries & Galloway from prehistoric times to the not-so-distant past! Fossils, utensils from the first inhabitants, stones engraved by the Christians, life on a Victorian farm: the visit is a journey into the region's past. The museum hosts temporary exhibitions throughout the year. On the museum's top floor, you'll have access to the Camera Obscura (charge: £4/adult, £2/reduced), an optical instrument that offers panoramic views of the town and surrounding countryside.
