Ballade remarquable près de John O'Groats
Il faut absolument aller jusqu'à Duncansby Head pour une ballade au départ du phare, vers le sud à travers la prairie. On découvre d'abord un minuscule fjord qui constitue un excellent abri pour oiseaux marins, y compris quelques couples de macareux qui nichent dans la falaise et sont facilement visibles. Ensuite, un peu plus au sud, on découvre les Duncansby Stacks, de remarquables rochers au large. Immanquable et plus intéressant que le site de John O'Groats qui est avant tout symbolique, à l'opposé géographique de Land's End, en Cornouailles, à l'autre extrémité de la Grande-Bretagne.
