ST MACHAR'S CATHEDRAL
This massive cathedral began to emerge from the ground in the 12th century and its two towers dominate the surroundings admirably. Saint Machar would have been a companion of Saint Columba during his journey to the island of Iona. After the execution of William Wallace in 1305, its members were sent to the four corners of the country as a warning. His lower left would have landed here and would be buried in one of the walls of the building. Inside, admire the beautifully carved wooden ceiling, stained glass windows and huge stones found throughout the structure.
