Your second chance to wake up and celebrate the New Year thanks to the Julian calendar dear to Russians and Orthodox.
The night of January 13 to 14 is the date of the New Year according to the old Julian calendar (in use until 1917). Less celebrated than New Year's Eve, it is nonetheless a traditional festivity and a second opportunity to celebrate! The typical dish on that night is traditionally surprise varenikis. A little salt, sugar, or a small coin is added to the stuffing, which means that the life that awaits you in the New Year will be happy and wealthy.
