At the beginning of the last century, the warehouses and customs on the Strelka changed use. The Customs House is taken over by the Russian Institute of Literature, to become this Literary Museum, commonly known as the Pushkin Museum. It contains some pieces that belonged to great writers: Gogol's armchair, Lermontov's cavalry sword, Tolstoy's boots... Some manuscripts and iconographic documents relating to the Russian culture of the 18th and 20th centuries.
