A few hundred metres from the Lavra, a final resting place for Russian men of letters has been set up in the Volkov cemetery, in an area called Literatorskoye Mostki ("Writers' Bridges"). Turgenev, Kuprin, Blok and Bergholz used these bridges to reach the afterlife. Statesmen of all persuasions (Plekhanov, Ulyanov-Lenin family), scholars (Mendeleev, Pavlov, Bekhterev), or artists also have their graves.
