Time difference Saint-Petersburg (Санкт-Петербург)
Since Russia decided not to change time in summer or winter, St. Petersburg is on UTC +3 all year round (Coordinated Universal Time). France is one hour ahead of UTC (UTC + 1 hour) in winter and two in summer (UTC + 2 hours). In short, when it is 10:00 a.m. in Paris, it is 11:00 a.m. in Saint Petersburg in summer and 12:00 a.m. in winter.
Please note that in March 2020, France was supposed to stop switching to winter time on 30 October 2021 and therefore remain on "summer time" from that date. If this were confirmed, the time difference would remain 1 hour longer in Saint Petersburg, whatever the season.
Opening hours Saint-Petersburg (Санкт-Петербург)
To see / To do Saint-Petersburg (Санкт-Петербург)
The normal opening hours of the museums and main visits are from 10 am to 6 pm. Please note that the main points of interest usually have a weekly closing day (Monday for the Hermitage, Tuesday for the Russian Museum). Night visits are frequent and are a good alternative to avoid the crowds of emblematic museums (until 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday for the Hermitage, Thursday for the Russian Museum). Due to the harshness of the winters, many sites with exteriors, such as the Peterhof Palace and Park or the Catherine and Alexander Palaces and Parks in Pushkin, have summer and winter hours. Whether they are private or public, there is no absolute rule and it is a question of inquiring beforehand on a case-by-case basis to avoid inconveniences! Please note that the Hermitage is closed on 9 May and 1 January.
Enjoying yourself Saint-Petersburg (Санкт-Петербург)
You can't starve to death here. St. Petersburg never sleeps, so it is easy to find something to eat at any time of the day, especially along the Nevsky Prospect where several establishments remain open 24 hours a day! Unlike in France, most establishments serve daily without exception and in continuous service, usually until midnight or 1am, with some going beyond that. Only a few gourmet restaurants close one day a week or can take a break between lunch and dinner services.
