Housed in a classical building built in 1791, the Imperial Lyceum Alexandrovsky (later Tsarkoselsky) received the children of the nobility. Originally intended for the education of the grand dukes Constantine, Alexander and Michel Pavlovitch, it was transformed into a high school in 1811. Alexander Pushkin studied there from 1811 to 1817. The Lyceum Museum, opened in 1949, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Pushkin's birth, exhibits the poet's manuscripts, his family tree, and organizes lectures and concerts.
