This well maintained trail of 150 km is only feasible from mid-June to September. The departure and the supply are made from Longmire and Mire. Walkers stay on one of the 18 campsites on the route. It reveals all aspects of the park: bois, torrents, snow and ice. Mount Rainier ascent lasts two days, starting from Paradise, with a stadium at Camp Muir. A permit is required.
The course is very difficult and very technical: weed, lava fields, crevasses, névés and glaciers. This ascent is reserved for experienced mountaineers. In particular, it serves US expeditions to prepare Everest's ascent to the Himalayas. At the top of the mountain, there is a large crater of 400 m and, above all, a view of Columbia Crest to the east.
