CRYSTAL HOTEL
Classified as a historical heritage site, the current building was built in 1911 to house a hotel. In 1946, the Zakoji, a Japanese family released from West Coast internment camps - following Pearl Harbor - took over the establishment and named it The Majestic. In the 1970s, the place became popular with the gay community and became a club. The McMenamins brothers, who rehabilitated historical and living places, took it over at the end of the 2000s and, after renovation, reopened it in its original form, with a strong character. The 51 rooms are decorated in 1930 Belle Epoque revival mode, and pay tribute to several songs played in the Crystal Ballroom, the adjacent ballroom. Some have an integrated bathroom, others in the hallway, all are impeccable clean. Large bay windows offer beautiful views of the city. A seawater swimming pool heated underground is accessible to all guests free of charge, a real pleasure considering the price of the rooms.
