Located 72 metres above sea level, this rock is a sanctuary for seabirds - puffin, cormorants and gulls, fish and other crustaceans. The stars of the rock are the sea stars, which we see at low tide, and green anemones, some of which may have up to one hundred years. Haystack Rock was formed from lava releases from the volcanoes of the Columbia River Plateau.
