Inaugurated in 1933, the museum was originally built to host the Asian art collection of Murray Warner. In the 1990 s, the deans of the university decided to give him a new breath. From 2002 to 2005, the museum was renovated, the building was upgraded by a Chicago firm. As he reopens, Eugene's art museum is named after his largest donor. Today, we see mainly works from the North West and America.
