PENDLETON WOOLEN MILLS STORE
The town of Pendleton, a major railway station serving the Columbia Plateau, was an important transit centre for wool from the region's sheep farmers to Portland. The mill, originally built in 1893, was originally a wool washing plant before its shipment. With the rise in freight prices, the business quickly became unprofitable. The factory was then transformed into a factory of blankets and dresses for the Amerindians. But then again, it's bankruptcy. With the help of the bishops, the activity resumed in 1909 in a modernized factory which is the one that produces the current lines. During the free visit, you can watch the carding, spinning and weaving of the wool. You can also buy their products in the shop, of high quality, made of virgin Oregon wool and very stylized and colorful in the Amerindian style.
