HEART MOUNTAIN INTERPRETIVE CENTER
The Heart Mountain War Relocation Center, now known as Heart Mountain Interpretive Center, is located about fifteen minutes' drive from Cody. He is part of one of the 10 concentration camps to internalize Japanese nationals following President Rooselvet's decree in response to Pearl Harbor's attack in December 1941. 650 military barracks are built and monitored by guard towers. In total, over 13,000 people are interned over the three years of operation, with a peak of over 10,000 people at the same time, making the third "city" of Wyoming. The site was closed in 1945. The tour of history provides a better understanding of the daily life of the camp and learn more about the revolts that have been carried out there.
