MCCLOUD RIVER MERCANTILE INN * * * *
One would expect more to find a hotel of this class in a large city than in McCloud, which, with its 1,100 inhabitants, is really a small village. Built at the end of the 19th century, the hotel has retained most of its original features and architecture, but has been perfectly and respectfully renovated and now offers services that are truly worthy of its 4-star rating.
The period furnishings and furniture allow guests to experience a real journey back in time. A generality, also from the time, a café and a souvenir shop complete the whole. As Kevin, the owner and boss, mischievously says: "It wasn't the people who dug the ground with shovels that made their fortune in California, it was the people who sold the shovels!
