190 million year old sandstone formation with undulations shaped by erosion, the number of visitors is limited
Located in the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness Area, The Wave is a 190-million-year-old sandstone formation whose undulations have been shaped by erosion. In order to preserve this fabulous site, the number of visitors is limited: in order to obtain the obligatory permit to survey the site, one must register for a draw, accessible online. This is definitely worth doing, especially if you missed the Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada. Nevertheless, note that the hike is quite physical.
