AÉROPORT INTERNATIONAL
Ouagadougou International Airport is the most popular. Small in size and relatively well organized, it is served by large carriers. It is therefore through this airport that most travellers arrive in Burkina Faso by air. International flights (some with stopovers) connect the Burkinabe capital with Paris (Orly and CDG), Marseille, Mulhouse, Toulouse, Lyon, Amsterdam, Brussels, Geneva, London, Bamako, Cotonou, Lomé, Abidjan, Accra, Niamey, Dakar, Libreville and Casablanca. From the airstrip, you can access the single terminal by a bus that only covers a hundred meters! Allow about 30 minutes for entry formalities; tip to avoid wasting time: bring a pen to complete the documents and contact details of your host in Faso. At customs, it is essential to present your passport and yellow fever vaccination certificate. It should be noted that it is very important to keep the baggage coupons as a strict check is carried out before leaving the area. At the exit of the airport, the independent traveller can easily find a taxi (count 3 000 FCFA for a trip in town, during the day). Taxi drivers and porters will spontaneously offer their services. It should be noted that a taxi at the airport is more expensive than a taxi outside the airport. A number of vendors or "guides" will introduce themselves to the independent traveller. They are generally not oppressive, but do not offer the best services. If they become insistent, keep smiling by walking away with a determined step. By car, we are about ten minutes from most of the accommodation in the capital.
