Unique on the African continent, this festival, created in 1969, is first and foremost a competition reserved for films made by African authors and the diaspora. All genres are represented: short and feature films, documentary and fiction films. The Fespaco takes place every odd year, in February-March. The year 2019 was the occasion to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Fespaco.
