This lake is famous for its hippopotamus population, which you can observe with a team of piroguers during a walk along its shores.
Lake Tengrela is famous for its hippopotamus population. To be able to observe them, you must pay an entrance fee at the small ONTB ticket office, called a "toll", if you wish to walk on the shores of the lake or take a canoe trip. A team of pirogues is available to lead travellers on the lake and to approach, at a safe distance, the pachyderms, hosts of the place. Of course, depending on the time of day, it is more or less easy to observe them. In the dry season, the chances are very good, the sunrise, in the middle of the water lilies, adds even more magic at the exit! In rainy season, it is advisable to favour sunrise or sunset. For safety reasons, the villagers know the observation limits not to be crossed and will offer you life jackets. It is customary to tip the canoeist.

The wage- tip of the guide and the piroguier is not included in the 1000F to pay (Ministry of tourism of Burkina Faso), it is good to forget them
