This great bronze, called Spirit of Freedom and erected in 1998, pays tribute to the black Americans who fought during the American civil war. The names of the combatants are registered beside the memorial, on the Wall of Honor. The soldiers of The United States Colored Troops (USCT) played a major role in the abolition of slavery.
