This gallery includes pieces collected by James McNeill Whistler in the 1880s (Chinese pottery, sculptures of Hindu temples, etc.), as well as works by 19th century American painters. It is not an unmistakable feature of the Mall but it can be a relaxing visit. It is connected to the Sacker Gallery by an underground passage, so both museums can be discovered in one visit.
