It was the American naval flagship in Africa from 1859 to 1861. This magnificent three-masts played an important role in the end of the slave trade by freeing the prisoners of 3 ships, intended for that purpose. He was then used as a school ship by the Naval Academy. Classified to historic monuments since 1963, it is the only boat remaining in the period of the War of Secession.
