Built by a Los Angeles company for the St Louis Fair in 1904, this spectacular organ (more than 10 000 pipes) was bought in 1909 by John Wanamaker businessman for his new emporium. The installation lasted two years and 8 000 pipes were added between 1911 and 1917. In 1980, organ became the first instrument to be classified as a historic national heritage. Many musicians came to play, including French Jeanne Demessieux. To hear the sound is even more impressive.
