In the th century, this green square was the place where slaves had the right to find themselves and that is where they buried their dead. During the war of Independence, the place was also used by the army to bury the soldiers. It was only in 1825 that the neighbourhood around was developing, that it became fashionable to live there and that the square was maintained. The garden houses the tomb of the unknown Soldier in tribute to all revolutionary soldiers and all bodies buried here in anonymity.
