Not to be confused with Independence Hall, Independence Mall is the great place facing Independence Hall, around which several historic sites are located, namely the Free Quaker Meeting House, the National Constitution Center, the President's House Memorial and the Liberty Bell Center. This is also where you will find the Independence Visitor Center, where you will take a mandatory step to retrieve brochures and practical information. Independence Mall extends over three blocks and was designed in the 1945-50 s around historic sites already present. It also includes a large lawn, coffee and large outdoor space on granite floors called People's Plaza or, more formally, First Amendment Area. Decorated with a granite plate that cites the First Amendment of the Constitution, this space invites citizens to exercise their right to freedom of expression.
