UNION OYSTER HOUSE
In the heart of the historic district, the oldest restaurant in Boston, frequented by JFK, offers very fresh seafood.
Opened in 1826, this is the oldest restaurant still in operation in the United States. The cuisine may lack finesse, but the place is well worth a break. There are various places to sit: on the first floor, at the bar (picturesque and lively), under the eyes of the peeler, or upstairs. In the evening, the atmosphere is warm (old-fashioned lamps, wooden tables) and the room is often full. President Kennedy was a regular visitor and always sat at the same table. A must-see in Boston, on the Freedom Trail.
