EMERSON COLONIAL THEATRE
Founded in 1900, one of Boston's oldest theaters hosts some of the most prestigious plays and musicals.
Opened in 1900, this is the oldest continuously operating theater in Boston. It has hosted the most prestigious plays and musicals, starting with Ben Hur, which was the very first play performed on its stages. Annie Get Your Gun, Anything Goes, La Cage aux Folles, based on Jean Poiret's play, and other Broadway classics were first performed here. Remaining closed for several years, it reopened its doors in 2018 with Moulin Rouge, the musical adapted from Baz Luhrmann's film of the same name.
