OLD SOUTH CHURCH
Gothic and neo-Gothic style church built in 1873 where Benjamin Franklin was baptized in Boston
This Gothic and Neo-Gothic church was built in 1873. With its magnificent stained glass windows, it's well worth a visit. Its congregation dates back to 1669, when it included descendants of the pilgrims. Benjamin Franklin was baptized in this church (then located in the Old South Meeting House) and, at the dawn of the Revolutionary War, the patriots gave their speeches here. More recently, in 2004, the church became the first in Boston to celebrate a same-sex marriage.
