KING'S CHAPEL
Chapel to represent the first Anglican congregation in North America and nearby cemetery worth visiting
This chapel was built in 1688 to represent the first Anglican congregation in North America. At the end of the 18th century, the wooden building was replaced by a stone one. The site is also worth a visit for the nearby cemetery, where almost all of the first generation of English pioneers are buried, including Mary Chilton, the first English woman on the Mayflower to set foot on New England soil, John Winthrop, the first governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, and William Dawes, hero of the Revolution.
