This is where the patriots' resistance to the English occupation, which began in 1768, ended in bloodshed. On March 5, 1770, an English soldier lost his temper and fired, killing five men, including Crispus Attucks, the first black American to die for the patriotic cause. The site of this massacre then served as a rallying point for supporters of the American Revolution, those who wanted to rid the country of the yoke of the British Crown.

Si vous parcourrez le "Freedom Trail" vous passez juste à côté d'un cercle en briques rouges qui rappelle le lieu du "horrid massacre", le premier de la Révolution Américaine, où 5 personnes furent tuées.
