Giant globe made in 1935 with colored stained glass, the only place in the world that faithfully reproduces our planet in Boston
The Mary Baker Eddy Library contains the Mapparium, a giant globe made of coloured stained glass, which is crossed by a footbridge. Made in 1935, this world map has preserved the traces of the political world of the time: the USSR, French West Africa and Siam still appear under these names. This globe is the only place in the world that faithfully reproduces our planet: when you stand right in the middle of the footbridge, you can observe the Earth without any distortion of distances and proportions.
