BOSTON ATHENAEUM
One of the oldest libraries in the United States, containing works from the library of George Washington.
This institution founded in 1807 is one of the oldest libraries in the United States. Its volumes on the Civil War form one of the most important collections on the subject in the country. It also contains many works from George Washington's personal library at Mount Vernon. Many personalities and historical figures were members of the Boston Athenaem, such as John F. Kennedy and Louisa May Alcott. Through the various rooms of the library, one can admire paintings, sculptures and art objects.
