JOHN F. KENNEDY PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY AND MUSEUM
The story of John F. Kennedy, the President of the United States and one of the most influential figures of the century.
From the early days of JFK's campaign to his accession to the White House in 1960 and his assassination in 1963, this is the story of one of the most influential figures of the 20th century. The tour usually begins with a 17-minute film that traces his youth and life from World War II, when he distinguished himself in the Pacific, to the presidential election. The tour then moves on to the various rooms which present video recordings of his media appearances, some of which have never been seen before, showing the man's ambition and convictions. From his programme for the conquest of space to the establishment of the Civil Rights Act, the Cuban missile crisis, his televised debate with Nixon or his speech "Ich bin ein Berliner" during his visit to West Berlin in 1963 denouncing the communist blockade of Berlin, everything is on display. We will also see gifts from foreign heads of state, letters and various documents. We find ourselves plunged into the heart of the 1960s thanks to scenic reproductions that take us through the streets of Boston at the time, showing us the president's office in the White House. One part is devoted to the influence of Jackie Kennedy, another to that of Bobby Kennedy. The saga of the Kennedy family is also evoked. From the hall where it is possible to have a meal, a magnificent view opens on the sea.
