HARVARD SCIENCE CENTER
Center built in 1972 that houses a museum dedicated to scientific objects in Cambridge
The Science Center stands out for its modernist architecture. The main building takes the form of a six-storey staircase, the last one being surmounted by two domes belonging to the astronomy observatory (only open to students). It was built in 1972 according to a design by the dean of the time, Josep Lluis Sert. Since 2004, it has housed a museum dedicated to scientific objects, the Harvard Collection of Scientific Instruments. Part of its collection can be admired free of charge in the Putnam Gallery on the ground floor of the Science Center.
