HARVARD UNIVERSITY
The campus of the oldest and most prestigious university in the country, which students take us on guided tours.
Founded in 1636, it is the country's oldest and most renowned university. Access to the university is highly competitive, with tens of thousands of students trying their luck every year, despite its extremely high price tag (around US$45,000 per year). The admission rate is less than 6%. Once admitted, students can obtain scholarships, or take out loans that they will repay when they start working. After graduation, Harvard students enjoy an average annual salary of US$60,000 at the start of their career, which can quickly rise once they've launched their career. Most students live on campus, especially undergraduate students. Most dormitories are located around Harvard Yard, which is the epicenter of university life.
Many prominent figures in politics, the arts, technology and science have attended Harvard. Harvard has produced the greatest number of U.S. presidents: John Adams, John Quincy Adams, Rutherford B. Hayes, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy and Barack Obama. Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Natalie Portman also attended Harvard.
To make sure you don't miss out on any of Harvard's sights, and to gain access to places that are usually off-limits to the public, it's best to take part in a free guided tour of the campus, led by a student. Visit the Harvard Information Center.
