PILGRIM MONUMENT AND PROVINCETOWN MUSEUM
Monument commemorating the arrival of the Mayflower pilgrims in Provincetown in 1620
The monument (granite) commemorates the arrival of the Mayflower pilgrims in Provincetown in 1620. From the top of the monument, there is a superb view of the harbour, Cape Cod Bay and the beaches - but you'll have to climb the 116 steps! The museum traces the history of the town - artists' colonies, civil war, fishing - and its history of the whaling industry, which is told under the title Forgotten Port in reference to the absence of P-Town in Melville's novel Moby Dick.
