Lighthouse with two wooden towers that were replaced by cast iron towers in Chatham.
It's a very pleasant stroll along the ocean that awaits you at the end of Chatham's main street. It leads to the city's beautiful lighthouse, built in 1877 and automated in 1982. The original lighthouse, built in 1807, had two wooden towers, which were replaced by cast-iron towers. One of them was moved in 1923 near Eastham, and became the Nauset Light. Now with only one tower, the Chatham Lighthouse is still active today. You will have to climb 44 steps to reach its top.
