Museum tracing the history of whaling and offering an instructive reconstruction of an 1847 candle factory

The museum offers a fascinating history of whaling. It features portraits of captains and their wives, the tools used by the hunters and the boats in which they set out to capture the marine mammal. The main hall features an impressive whale skeleton. The museum also features an instructive reconstruction of an 1847 candle factory. Before you leave, don't forget to climb to the roof, where you'll enjoy a magnificent view of the island. Historical city tour Monday to Saturday, 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.

Nantucket a vécu avant le tourisme et l’immobilier du commerce de la baleine. Le musée retrace l'essor de cette activité et le développement de Nantucket au travers de visites guidées, d'objets d'époque et de récits de chasse à la baleine. Très intéressant pour connaître l'histoire de l'île.
