FLYING HORSES CAROUSEL
The oldest carousel in the country was owned by several individuals before becoming the property of the Martha's Vineyard Land Trust.
Next to the information booth, admire the oldest carousel in the country! Built in 1876, it would have been in New York City before being moved to Martha's Vineyard in the 1880s. It was owned by a number of individuals before becoming the property of Martha's Vineyard Land Trust in 1986. Today, it is a joy for children to climb on its 22 wooden horses, whose manes are made from real horsehair. The music that escapes from the carousel is played on a 1923 limone organ.
