HOTEL LE ROYAL
This hotel, housed in a colonial-era building in Phnom Penh, has changed names several times in its history.
Dating back to the colonial era, the Royal Hotel was officially opened in 1929. As Angkor gained in popularity, many hotel projects were born, but the Royal was by far the most ambitious. The hotel changed its name several times in its history. Renamed Le Phnom during the pre-war period, it closed during the Khmer Rouge period, during which it is supposed to have housed part of Pol Pot's administration. It regained its name in 1993. Now operated by Raffles, it was beautifully renovated in 1996 and 2016.
