PRASAT NEANG KHMAO
Temple of the Black Madonna in Takeo, formerly comprising five shrines built in two lines running north-south.
The last two towers of Prasat Neang Khmao, the temple of the Black Madonna, are perhaps the remains of an ancient Kali shrine. This temple was once connected to Phnom Chisor by a Khmer causeway that can still be seen perfectly from the top of Phnom Chisor. The temple consisted of five shrines built in two lines running north-south; two of them still stand. These square brick towers are open to the east and bear inscriptions from the seventh century, at least the one on the left because the other was burned down by the Khmer Rouge.
