Although the founder and musician Dr. Beat Richner, alias Beatocello, unfortunately died in 2018, his work continues. In thirty years, he has opened 5 Kantha Bopha hospitals in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. An eloquent record with nearly one million annual consultations, 125,000 hospitalizations and 16,000 operations. 85% of sick children in Cambodia are treated in these hospitals. Due to the poverty of Cambodian families, all these treatments are completely free of charge, but the quality is the same as in Switzerland, the country where Dr Richner practiced before settling in Cambodia in 1992. Dr. Richner used to play classical music for sick children and to give regular concerts to finance his association. Every Thursday at the hospital, a projection of his biopic is given.
