WAT THMEI
A new pagoda with a stupa and ossuary, where the bones are those of Khmer Rouge victims and fallen soldiers
The "new pagoda" is not in itself a remarkable building from an architectural point of view, especially when you have spent (or will spend) several days visiting the beauties of the Angkor complex. But it is worth a visit if you are interested in the dark contemporary history of the country. Indeed, it houses a stupa containing an ossuary. The bones deposited there are those of victims of the Khmer Rouge as well as soldiers who died in battle not far from there. It is therefore the object of a particular fervor although discreet.
