PREAH NORODOM SIHANOUK MUSEUM
Museum in Siem Reap housing Buddhas discovered at the Banteay Kdey temple by young Cambodian archaeologists
This museum owes its realization to Professor Ishisawa, chief archaeologist of the Sophia-Tokyo University mission. In order to train young Cambodian archaeologists in the new techniques of excavation, the Japanese experts had chosen an access road to the temple of Banteay Kdey, which was apparently of no interest, but in which they discovered 275 Buddhas. With the sponsorship of the Aeon Foundation, it was decided to build a museum worthy of the name. Beautiful initiative!
