THEAM'S HOUSE
House-workshop-gallery of artist Lim Muy Théam, showcasing Cambodia's cultural identity through arts and crafts
Theam's House, a sumptuous haven of peace and creation, is the home-workshop-gallery of Cambodian artist and designer Lim Muy Theam. It is dedicated to the discovery of Cambodia's cultural identity through art and crafts. After having participated for more than 12 years in the development of handicrafts in Cambodia, and in order to continue his work of creation and transmission of his artistic knowledge to new young talents, Theam has thus transformed his house and his living environment into a real work space dedicated to the creation and the development of Cambodian handicrafts and art. Thus are created collections of creative and original objects with a particular attention given to the finish and the quality. All supports are used: lacquered wood and stone, lacquered ceramic, silk, bronze. Combining tableware products with decorative panels, statuary of a thousand Buddhas with finely woven stoles in rainbow colors, precious wood with lacquer, Theam's gallery presents a unique Cambodian art of living where beauty and spirituality come together. The place is divided into three distinct spaces: the workshop where young apprentices, and sometimes Theam himself, work on their creations; the gallery, which exhibits the works of Cambodian artists in a very professional way; and the museum, in which you will find everyday objects as well as architectural details. The whole place is really worth a visit.
