EL JARDIN BOTANICO
This 92-hectare garden was created at the beginning of the 20th century by the Atkins, a wealthy North American family involved in the sugar industry, with the objective of studying the evolution of different types of sugar cane. It was then transferred to Harvard University in 1910. After the revolution, Cuba regained possession of the site and established its own teams of botanists. With 2,000 plant species, including 280 varieties of palm trees, 200 types of cactus, 90 ficus trees and 23 types of bamboo, it is undoubtedly the most beautiful garden in the country. Recommended!
