Camagüey's ballet company celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2017! The city, after the Havana National Ballet, boasts the country's most prestigious dance company. Founded in 1967 and directed successively by Vicentina de la Torre, Joaquín Banegas, Fernando Alonso (ex-husband of prima ballerina Alicia Alonso) and, today, Regina Almaguer, the ensemble already has some two hundred pieces to its credit.
Building on its know-how and experience in this field, Camagüey organizes an International Festival every two years.
