JARDÍN BOTÁNICO LANKESTER
Famous garden with orchids, bromeliads, bamboo and tropical epiphytes of Costa Rica
The famous garden was designed to help conserve the tropical epiphytic plants of Costa Rica. Created in the 1950s by the eponymous English naturalist, it now belongs to the University of Costa Rica. On the 10.7 ha, you will discover orchids, bromeliads, aracae, cacti, zingiberaceae (ginger and costus), musaceae (banana trees), bamboo or ferns. The palm of honor goes to the orchids: more than 800 different species out of the 1,400 known in Costa Rica.
