Local guide who will introduce you to the Bribrí culture during a walk in the Costa Rican forest of the Caribbean coast.
The indigenous community is one of the four Bribrí communities in Costa Rica. Located in the biological corridor of the Cordillera de Talamanca and the Caribbean, the community has just over 200 inhabitants. The indigenous reserve of Keköldi is managed by the indigenous organization Wak Ka Koneke, which is committed to sustainable development and conservation of natural resources. It covers an area of 3,583 hectares within a tropical rainforest settlement area. About 30% of the reserve has primary forest characteristics. It is possible to stay at the scientific research center by reservation. Whether you choose to stay for a few days, or go for a day, this is your opportunity to discover an exciting culture and way of life. Let yourself be guided by the Indians who live on the Keköldi territory. They will make you discover the bribrí culture, the Costa Rican forest of the Caribbean coast but especially the breeding of the green iguanas, which pullulate on the site; the largest ones walk freely in the forest. Here, they are protected and you will learn why they are so threatened in this part of the country. You can also discover the local handicrafts. If you go through ATEC or a local guide (with reservation), you can couple the excursion with the discovery of the biggest waterfall of the region, another wonder of nature as Costa Rica knows how to reveal to us. A highly recommended and enriching visit.
