i gave it 3 stars as the food and water situation for 300 dollar per day for 2 is not acceptable.

the food is delicious, but very very small portions. they say you can ask for more, but there seems to be problem in the kitchen in calculating how much they needed every time so there is never enough.

30 dollars for dinner and 20 dollars for lunch per person, no drinks included and still hungry after is not ok.

they say they have an restaurant but its a cafeteria, no menu or walk in anytime you want. you get served what they prepared at there decided times so this is a cafeteria.

besides the drinks are heavily overpriced. 12 dollars for a mini cocktail.

you can not drink the tapwater and you have to go the 'restaurant' or reception where the mini dispensers are out of water quite often and no one around to ask for a refill.

the room has no fans so its very hot most of the time, lastly they dont provide any water in the room.

if you go to this place bring your own water and snacks as they dont let you cook anything. all this for just 300 dollars per day!

Staying at Finca Exotica proved to be a memorable experience in the Costa Rican jungle. Beauty abounded everywhere. Expertly prepared meals, friendly staff, and agreeable accommodations made for a pleasant stay. I traveled there for a yoga retreat. The surroundings were perfect. Our group would hear howler monkeys in the morning and were greeted by pairs of flying scarlet macaws during yoga. We also saw yellow billed toucans on the property along with Coatis, Tayras, Capuchin Monkeys, and other wildlife. Ginger, Hibiscus, Lobster Claw varieties of Birds of Paradise along with other tropical plants filled the area. Hikes to Corcovado Park, kayak trips, horseback riding on the beach, and dolphin tours are all available. Or you could just relax on the property and do nothing. The last night, the lodge arranged to have cocktails and snacks on the beach with a fire. It was magical.

Amazing, isolated location in the middle of the jungle and next to the ocean - true connection with the nature. The food is amazing and the accommodations are fabulous, so special. Enjoy the beach, do some yoga, go for a walking or kayak tour with Laura.

Finca Exotica is one of those places that will be a forever memory. We stayed at the Rancho Cabina, which is on top of the hill with the most amazing view over the jungly garden and Pacific Ocean. The red macaws and toucans are constantly passing by, just like different types of monkeys, anteaters, and aguti's. While the facilities are simple (cold showers, no wifi, no aircon), the experience is absolutely not. Sleeping so close to nature in a place that cherishes nature so much, is definitely one the highlights of our stay in Costa Rica!

Beautiful but extremely (ridiculously) expensive

We (a couple with 2 kids) stayed at Finca Exotica Eco Lodge for 3 nights.

The property is nicely located at the southern end of Corcovado national park. The road from Porto Jimenez towards Carate where the lodge is located takes 1.5h over unpaved, graveled roads (4x4 not mandatory but recommended).

The entire property is a remote lodge run by a couple who bought the property some 30 years ago, invested extensively in reforesting the former farmland and bring back native plants attracting birds and other animals. It has several basic houses, beds with mosquito nets, outdoor showers, and breathtaking views. No WiFi on the entire property except at the entrance on the main road. The food is delicious and the owners helpful and friendly. Swimming in the pacific is not recommended due to the strong rip currents.

The lodge we had contained two single beds and one queen sized bed with mosquito nets, an outdoor shower and a hammock.

For the three nights we paid USD 1300 (including food, but no other services) as well as 230 USD for the mandatory guide and entrance to the Corcovado national park, so over USD 1500 for the three days at Finca Exotica.

All in all, we consider Finca Exotica as a beautiful spot providing an excellent opportunity to see CR wildlife, however the price tag is at the high(est) end with over USD 320 per day (!).

If you do not care about money at all and are keen to explore a rather wild part of CR with very basic infrastructure only, Finca Exotica may be your place.

Warm bilingual hospitality, amazing fresh food, incredible diversity in nature on property, easy access to a beautiful black sand beach and near the Corcovado National Park. You can drink the water and even with open rooms, there were no significant "critter issues". Wifi is limited to the beach house at the bottom of the hill so that you can be fully present to enjoy the experience. "Worth the drive".

This is exactly how you would imagine a Paradise on a Postal Card! If you want to be inside a real tropical forest and same time be at the resort, this place is for you!
We spend 5 nights at the resort, which we found online after bad hotel experience in Puerto Jimenez. So, it wasn't planned, but became the best days for two of us during recent Costa Rica vacation. We stayed in a Cabin, which is perfectly matching the tropical garden on the property. The three times per day meal was deliciously cooked by Coco (sorry if I misspell the name of cook) and served in the restaurant. If you would be there only to see the sunset, its already worth it! We met great people there as well.

Thanks for every moment there!
